What shall I absolutely bring for the journey?
The short list;
How is the climate when we travel?
In the period that we travel the temperature during the day will be around … during the day. In the evening generally the temperature will be around …
What to wear?
Since we are dealing with warm sunny weather, you can bring summer clothes. Mind you! We are travelling through an islamic country. The Egyptians accept most of the clothing styles the visiting tourists wear, however in order not to attract to much attention, we advice the women not wear skirts above the knee. Shorts for both women and men are generally accepted. In some temples it is not allowed to enter wearing sleeveless shirts or shorts, so bring something to cover the shoulders or wrap around the waist.
Some of the hotels we stay in, have hammam and swimming pool facilities, make sure to bring swimwear and flipflops if you feel like enjoying these services.
How do we travel through Egypt?
We will have two domestic flight. As a special treat we will spend time on a Dahabiya, which is a classic Nile sailboat. Furthermore, we will travel with our own private touring bus.
What type of hotels do we stay in?
We aim to have offer balance of luxury and a local authentic experience. The Dahabiya we chose is a luxury sailer. A few weeks before the journey, we will communicate the final selection of accommodations. The most important conditions we maintain when selecting hotels are cleanliness, safety and optimum location in relation to our program.
What about the food?
The Egyptian kitchen is known for its spices and colourfull dishes. The meals consists of mostly stewlike dishes with vegetables, meat and / or fish, with some small fresh salads or pickles on the side. For people who are on a vegan or vegetarian diet there is a lot of possibilities. We encourage the participants to adopt a vegan diet for the duration of the journey. As we are on a spiritual journey, not consuming animal produce may enhance the connection to the Self and help to go deeper into a meditative state. The body does not have deal with the digestion of another being.
How much money shall I bring?
We leave it up to you how much money you bring. To give you an idea. The cost of a meal is from €8,- depending the type of restaurant. Only the meals during the free time are not included in the participation fee.
We suggest to bring cash in EURO or USD as these are well appreciated and easily changed into Egyptian Pounds (EGP) in the hotels. Sofar, we have experienced that the hotels offer fair exchange rates. There is no need to go to a bank to change money. Also it is possible to pay with credit card in most shops, museums and restaurants. And in case necessary the ATMs also accept international credit cards to withdraw money.
It is good to have cash to buy things in local supermarkets or small souvenirs.
